A phone you can fix yourself

Fairphone designs its devices so that the battery, display or camera can be swapped as modules. Spare parts and repair guides are openly available, and software updates keep coming for a long time. Buying a used Fairphone extends the life of a phone that was built to last in the first place.

Who it suits

Browsing, messaging, maps, streaming and photos all run smoothly. If demanding games are your main thing, a high-end device will serve you better. In return, the company uses recycled plastics and metals and sources through supply chains free of conflict minerals.

Storage and condition

We stock Fairphones with 32, 128 or 256 GB. 32 GB covers calls, chats and a handful of apps; if you keep lots of photos, go for 128 or 256 GB. Condition ranges from Bargain, with visible signs of use, to As new. Every device is reconditioned in Switzerland with its battery and display checked, and comes with a 1-year warranty (extendable to 3 years), 14-day returns and free shipping. Stock is small, so it is worth checking back, or browse Google Pixel, other Android phones and all Android phones.

FAQ Buy a refurbished Fairphone

Let’s take a look together at the benefits and important considerations when buying.

What makes a Fairphone special compared to other smartphones?

Fairphones place a clear focus on sustainability, repairability, and fair supply chains. Unlike many other devices, Fairphones are designed so that you can easily replace modules such as the battery, display, or camera. This allows you to carry out repairs yourself and avoid wasting money by replacing devices prematurely.

How does the Fairphone series differ from other smartphone series?

While many smartphone series are designed for maximum power or annual upgrade cycles, Fairphone prioritizes durability, modularity, and fair production practices. Fairphone deliberately avoids unnecessary features and focuses on durable hardware, open access to spare parts, and easy repair options. This focus clearly distinguishes the devices from typical mainstream smartphones.

How powerful are Fairphones in everyday use?

Fairphones offer solid everyday performance for common tasks such as web browsing, messaging, social media, navigation, streaming, photos, and basic productivity apps. They aren't necessarily high-end gaming powerhouses, but they are fast, reliable, and, thanks to their modular design, usable for the long term for most daily applications.

How durable is a Fairphone device really?

Fairphones are intentionally designed for a long lifespan. Thanks to modular components like the battery, camera modules, and screen, a Fairphone can often be used for years longer than conventional smartphones, as you simply replace defective parts instead of throwing away the entire device.

What materials are used?

Fairphone uses recycled materials, including plastics and metals, to minimize its environmental footprint. The company also relies on conflict mineral-free supply chains to ensure that raw materials are sourced responsibly.

How sustainable is the Fairphone?

The Fairphone features a modular design that allows for easy repair and upgrades. This significantly extends the device's lifespan and reduces electronic waste. The company also offers a transparent life cycle assessment to illustrate the device's environmental impact.

How does Fairphone support work?

Fairphone offers comprehensive support for its products, including repair guides and spare parts for the various device modules. This allows users to repair and upgrade their Fairphone themselves, instead of buying a new device.

What about software updates?

Fairphone is committed to long-term support for its devices through regular software updates. The company collaborates with the Android community to ensure users receive the latest security updates and features.
