We pull the plug on smartphones
Hand on heart: How many USB chargers are currently gathering dust in your drawers? Probably more than one. That’s exactly why we asked ourselves: Does every smartphone that leaves our warehouse really need to come with yet another charger?
Our answer is: No.
You might have already noticed: We are taking a decisive step towards a circular economy and now offer our smartphones and smartwatches without a charger as standard.
Why we do this
Our goal at Revendo is to extend the lifespan of electronics and conserve resources. Often, devices are supplied with accessories out of habit, accessories that aren't actually needed. We want to change that.
The impetus for this came, among other things, from the discussions in the EU Parliament about uniform charging standards. The argument there is simple and logical: most consumers already own a working power adapter. So why produce unnecessary electronic waste?
The facts speak for themselves.
To show you what this small sacrifice can achieve, we've done the math:
- Last year, almost 25,000 smartphones found a new home with us.
- The standard power adapter for an iPhone weighs approximately 46 grams .
- This results in a total weight of 1,150 kilograms of plastic and electronics.
Over a ton of material! That's a huge amount of resources we can save by only issuing power supplies when they are actually needed.
You need a charger, right?
Don't worry, we won't leave you without power. If you don't have a suitable power adapter at home, you can easily add one to your order at a significantly reduced price directly in your shopping cart. This way, we ensure that only the necessary resources are used.
