The designation "iPad Pro 13-inch" refers specifically to the generation from 2024 onwards, which uses the new M4 chip. While the previous models were officially listed as "12.9-inch," Apple has slightly increased the screen diagonal to a full 13 inches for this generation. Therefore, if you're looking for an iPad Pro 13-inch, it's always the latest, ultra-thin model with an OLED display.

The leap from the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (M2) to the 13-inch iPad Pro (M4) is enormous. At 5.1 mm, it's the thinnest Apple product ever and significantly lighter. Technically, the biggest innovations are the switch to the "tandem OLED" display for perfect black levels and the new M4 chip for AI applications. In addition, the front camera has finally been moved to the long side, making video calls much more natural.

The 13-inch iPad Pro is the first tablet ever to use an "Ultra Retina XDR" display with tandem OLED technology. This involves layering two OLED panels to achieve an enormous brightness (1000 nits, 1600 nits peak) that standard OLEDs cannot match. Compared to the mini-LEDs of its predecessors, there is no more "blooming" (light halos) – only perfect blacks and pixel-perfect precision.

The M4 chip was specifically designed for this iPad and offers tremendous performance, surpassing many laptops. The 13-inch iPad Pro is available in classic silver and the new, darker space black. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. It's important to note that the 1TB and 2TB models not only offer more storage but also double the RAM (16GB) and are optionally available with matte nano-texture glass to reduce glare.

The device is extremely future-proof, equipped with Wi-Fi 6E for the fastest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3. The USB-C port supports Thunderbolt/USB 4, allowing you to connect external monitors with up to 6K resolution and fast SSDs. Note regarding the cellular version: The 13-inch iPad Pro no longer supports physical SIM cards, but relies entirely on cellular connectivity.

You need to be careful here, as older accessories often won't fit. The 13-inch iPad Pro requires the new Apple Pencil Pro (or the USB-C Pencil); the magnetic 2nd generation Pencil no longer works. You also need the new aluminum Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro (M4). Older keyboards are incompatible due to the changed magnets and the thinner design.
