iPad Pro 13″

The designation "iPad Pro 13-inch" refers specifically to the generations from 2024 onwards with the M4 chip (2024) or M5 chip (2025). While the previous models were officially listed as "12.9-inch," Apple has slightly increased the screen diagonal to a full 13 inches for this generation. Therefore, if you're looking for an iPad Pro 13-inch, it's always an ultra-thin model with an OLED display.

The leap from the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (M2) to the 13-inch iPad Pro (M4) is enormous. At 5.1 mm, it's the thinnest Apple product ever and significantly lighter. Technically, the biggest innovations are the switch to the "tandem OLED" display for perfect black levels and the new M4 chip for AI applications. In addition, the front camera has finally been moved to the long side, making video calls much more natural.

This model is the ultimate machine for professionals and creatives who refuse to compromise. It's aimed at graphic designers, video editors (e.g., using Final Cut Pro for iPad), 3D artists, and photographers who need the extremely precise OLED screen for image evaluation. But it's also the best choice for users who want to use their iPad as a full-fledged laptop replacement, thanks to the new keyboard and large screen.

The 13-inch iPad Pro is the first tablet ever to use an "Ultra Retina XDR" display with tandem OLED technology. This involves layering two OLED panels to achieve an enormous brightness (1000 nits, 1600 nits peak) that standard OLEDs cannot match. Compared to the mini-LEDs of its predecessors, there is no more "blooming" (light halos) – only perfect blacks and pixel-perfect precision.

The M4 chip was specifically designed for this iPad and offers tremendous performance, surpassing many laptops. It features a new display engine for the OLED panel and an extremely powerful Neural Engine for AI tasks. Especially in computationally intensive tasks like 3D rendering (now with hardware-accelerated ray tracing), it is up to four times faster than the M2 chip in the previous model.

The front camera is now a "Landscape Ultra Wide Camera," meaning it's positioned along the long side. This is perfect for Zoom or FaceTime meetings, as you no longer have to look past the camera from the side. The rear camera focuses on a powerful 12 MP wide-angle lens and the LiDAR scanner for AR applications. A new feature is the adaptive True Tone flash, which better illuminates documents when scanning and uses AI to eliminate shadows.

Despite its extremely thin design, Apple delivers on its promise of "All-Day Battery Life." You can expect up to 10 hours of web browsing over Wi-Fi or video playback. The M4 chip and the OLED display are so efficiently coordinated that the battery life remains consistent despite the increased performance.

The 13-inch iPad Pro is available in classic silver and the new, darker space black. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. It's important to note that the 1TB and 2TB models not only offer more storage but also more RAM (16GB instead of 8GB on the M4 or 12GB on the M5) and are optionally available with matte nano-texture glass to reduce glare.

The device is extremely future-proof, equipped with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 (M4) or Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 (M5). The USB-C port supports Thunderbolt/USB 4, allowing you to connect external monitors with up to 6K resolution and fast SSDs. Note regarding the cellular version: The 13-inch iPad Pro no longer supports physical SIM cards, but relies entirely on eSIM.

You need to be careful here, as older accessories often won't fit. The 13-inch iPad Pro requires the new Apple Pencil Pro (or the USB-C Pencil); the magnetic 2nd generation Pencil no longer works. You also need the new aluminum Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro (M4). Older keyboards are incompatible due to the changed magnets and the thinner design.
