This category includes all MacBook Pro models equipped with Apple's own processors (Apple Silicon) – identifiable by the "M" in their name (e.g., M1, M2, M3). Compared to previous Intel models, these chips offer a significant leap in performance while operating with extreme energy efficiency. This means the fan will run much less frequently and the battery will last considerably longer, often all day.

This is the most important distinction in this series. The 13-inch MacBook Pro (usually with the base M chip) uses the classic design with the Touch Bar and is ideal for everyday mobile use. The 14-inch and 16-inch models, on the other hand, are completely new designs for professionals: They offer more ports (such as HDMI and an SD card slot), the magnetic MagSafe charging connector, and feature the extremely bright Liquid Retina XDR display with 120Hz ProMotion, which renders motion much more smoothly.

The generation (e.g., M1, M2, M3) indicates the age, but the suffix determines the performance class. The standard M-chip (without a suffix) is the perfect all-rounder for office work, studying, and photo editing. The "Pro" chip offers more cores and graphics power, making it ideal for video editors, musicians, and developers. The "Max" chip is the top-of-the-line model with enormous graphics performance, making it particularly worthwhile for 3D rendering and extremely demanding graphics projects.
