Revendo wins the Bergkristall 2021

Revendo gewinnt den Bergkristall 2021

The Bergkristall is an award from the Alpen-Initiative that annually honors companies that avoid transport routes or strengthen local production. As a counterpart, the Alpen-Initiative awards the Teufelsstein, which publicly condemns particularly senseless transports. Both formats make visible how business models influence the CO₂ footprint and how things can be done differently.

On September 2, 2021, Alpen-Initiative President Jon Pult personally presented the Bergkristall at Revendo's headquarters in Basel, in front of the media.

The most sustainable product is the one that never has to be newly manufactured and never has to be transported halfway around the world.

In his laudation, Pult emphasized: "Revendo has more than earned the Bergkristall. The company succeeds in being successful even in the extremely fast-paced electronics market with their upcycling business concept. It is our concern to promote visionary and sustainable commitments like this with this award."

Founded in Basel in 2013, the company slows down the transport madness in the global market for communication and entertainment devices. By accepting, testing, repairing, and upgrading used smartphones or laptops when necessary, Revendo keeps them longer in the consumption cycle. In doing so, Revendo not only reduces electronic waste but also conserves the consumption of finite earths and ores required for the production of such devices.

Laurenz Ginat, member of the management board, sums it up: "We are very pleased that we were able to convince with our upcycling concept. Winning the award shows us that the positive impacts of the circular economy are becoming increasingly important for society." ♻️
