The first M1 Air: still a good choice?

In late 2020, Apple replaced the Intel processor in the MacBook Air with its own M1 chip. The machine runs without a fan and lasts a long time between charges. Its 13.3-inch Retina display is sharp enough for photos and long documents alike.

Today it suits anyone looking for a light, quiet laptop for studying, office work, browsing and streaming; the M1 also copes with light photo editing. Typical configurations have 8 or 16 GB of memory and a 256 or 512 GB SSD.

At this age, the battery is what counts. We test it on every Air we refurbish in Switzerland. You choose the condition, from Bargain to As new, and the 1-year warranty can be extended to 3 years.

For a newer generation, look at the MacBook Air (Mid 2022) or the MacBook Air (Early 2024). Every Air model is listed under MacBook Air.
