Which M chip for your Air?

Every Air with an Apple chip is quiet and economical. They differ in casing and performance headroom, and that is also reflected in the price.

  • Tight budget: the M1 model is the most affordable way in and covers studying, office work and streaming.
  • Modern design: from the M2 onwards the casing is flat, and there is a larger-screen version.
  • More headroom: the M3 and M4 are worth it if you plan to keep the laptop for many years.

The smaller version suits commuters and students, the larger one anyone who works a lot with spreadsheets or images. The base memory is fine for everyday use; if you edit video, get more.

For comparison: the pro line is listed under MacBook Pro M-Series, older Air models with Intel processors under MacBook Air Intel.

Every device is checked and refurbished in Switzerland, battery included, and comes with a 1-year warranty and 14 days to return it.

FAQ MacBook Air M-Series

Let’s take a look together at the benefits and important considerations when buying.

Which models belong to the "MacBook Air M series"?

This category includes all MacBook Air models equipped with Apple's own processors (Apple Silicon). It began with the MacBook Air M1 (2020) in the classic wedge design. This was followed by the MacBook Air M2 (2022), M3 (2024), M4 (2025), and M5 (2026), all of which feature a new, flat design and are also available in a larger 15-inch version. These devices are known for being significantly more powerful and efficient than the older Intel models.

What is the difference between the M1 and the M2/M3 model?

Besides performance, the biggest difference is the design. The MacBook Air M1 still uses the classic, tapered "wedge" design. Models starting with the M2 chip have a completely flat, modern enclosure similar to the MacBook Pro. In addition, the M2 and M3 models have a slightly larger, brighter display with a notch (camera cutout) for thinner bezels, as well as the popular MagSafe charging port, which is missing on the M1.

What does "fanless" mean and why is that an advantage?

All MacBook Air models in the M series (M1, M2, M3) are completely fanless. This means the device operates absolutely silently – whether you're writing an email or editing a video. There are no more annoying whirring noises in the library or a quiet office. This is made possible by the enormous efficiency of Apple's chips, which generate very little heat.

Should I choose the 13-inch or the 15-inch model?

It depends on your usage. The 13-inch model (M1, M2, M3) is extremely compact and lightweight, ideal for commuters and students who are on the go every day. The 15-inch model (available from the M2 upwards) offers significantly more screen space, which is perfect if you often use two windows side by side or work extensively with Excel spreadsheets and graphics programs without wanting to connect an external monitor.

Is 8 GB of RAM sufficient for the M-series?

With older Intel Macs, 8 GB of RAM was often insufficient. However, Apple's M-series uses "Unified Memory," which is much more efficient. For almost all everyday tasks, university work, photo editing, and browsing with many tabs open, the 8 GB models of the M-series are perfectly adequate and run extremely smoothly. Only if you're doing professional 4K video editing or working with very large files do we recommend a model with 16 GB or more.

Why should I buy a used MacBook Air M-series?

These devices are extremely durable and hardly lose any performance even after years of use. Since the M1 model in particular is often no longer available directly from Apple, Revendo offers a great opportunity to acquire top-of-the-line technology at a low price. You save money, get a technically flawless device with a warranty, and act sustainably by avoiding electronic waste.
