How do I use my devices sustainably?

We have put together a few tips for you for each device that we recondition and sell at Revendo, so that your device stays in use for as long as possible.

Smartphones

  • Regular updates: Keep your smartphone software up to date to ensure you have the latest security patches and efficiency improvements.
  • Battery health: Avoid extreme temperatures and enable the ‘Optimised battery charging’ option in the settings to extend the life of your battery.
  • Use quality accessories: For example, use only MFi-certified chargers and accessories with iPhones to avoid damage.
  • Manage your storage: regularly clean up your storage space to keep your phone running smoothly. Delete unused apps and upload large files and photos to the cloud.

iPads

  • Battery usage: similar to the iPhone, you should conserve battery power by avoiding a complete discharge and charging the iPad between 20% and 80%.
  • App updates and closures: Keep apps up to date and close any apps you're not using to save battery power and improve performance.
  • Careful use: Avoid using your iPad in environments where it may be exposed to moisture or dust. Use covers to keep ports clean.
  • Regular backups: Back up your iPad data regularly to the iCloud or your computer to avoid data loss.

MacBook

  • battery care: Use the battery cyclically and occasionally let it drain to zero to calibrate the battery level indicator.
  • Software updates: Keep macOS and all programmes up to date. You should set your MacBook to update itself automatically.
  • Cleaning: Clean the keyboard, screen and case of your MacBook regularly with appropriate cleaning agents to avoid build-up that can affect performance.
  • Heat management: Use your MacBook on hard, flat surfaces to ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid using it on fabric surfaces that can block air intake. Don't leave your MacBook by the window where it could overheat due to the sun.
